GA Pure Wing with carbon boom – New in the range!

The new GA Pure 2025 is the latest offering from Gaastra. If you’re into freestyle tricks or carving up waves and looking for a wing that responds fast, delivers power precisely, and keeps things under control in tough conditions, then the Pure is worth a closer look.

This isn’t a wing made for casual cruising. The 2025 Pure clearly targets performance-oriented riders who already know what they’re after, especially in the freestyle and wave discipline space.

Let’s break it down.

GA Pure Wing

Materials & Build: Ultra 80X UPE Laminate – A Game Changer?

One of the main talking points is the Ultra 80X UPE laminate, used for both the leading edge and the strut frame. This is not your typical Dacron build. Ultra 80X is less than half the weight of traditional Dacron, and significantly stiffer. What that means in practice is a wing that reacts quickly to rider input, holds its shape better under pressure, and doesn’t feel sluggish.

This lighter frame also allows for a more tapered leading edge, something you’ll appreciate if you care about having just the right mix of stiffness and flex.

Durability seems to have been kept in mind, too. Despite the lighter weight, the stiffness and strength of the material promise longevity, though real-world testing over a season will be the true proof.

New Boom Design: The Pistol Grip Carbon Boom

Another fresh feature is the Pistol Grip Carbon Boom. GA moved away from the standard alu rigid handles here and designed something that feels even more locked-in.

The carbon construction keeps it rigid, and the grip angle adds a level of intuitive handling that’s noticeable when you’re switching hands during a move or powering through turns. For anyone doing maneuvers where grip consistency and control matter, this boom could make a difference.

It’s also separable, so easier to pack and travel with, especially useful if you’re not local to your spots and rely on transport.

Sail Layout: BAT Panel Construction & VoltNova Materials

The BAT panel layout takes care of sail tension and load distribution. The idea here is to keep the profile defined and reduce unwanted stretch over time.

Up front, there’s the VoltNova triple ripstop spinnaker, and at the trailing edge, GA used the VoltNova+ double ripstop. Both are supplied by Teijin and focus on durability and consistent performance. The back edge feels tighter and more stable, which should help prevent flutter and stretch issues after repeated sessions.

Shape and Performance in Action

What GA calls the “Compact Performance Shape” actually translates well to real use.

The wing has a tight, reactive feel. Rotations are quick, and you don’t feel like you’re swinging a large wing around you. It stays close, behaves neutrally when flagged, and re-engages cleanly when you need power again. The tension profile between the leading and trailing edge feels balanced.

If you’re doing tricks or progressing in waves, that matters. You want controlled drift, predictable feedback, and a frame that doesn’t collapse when you load it up.

The angled strut also supports a natural riding position, aligning ergonomically with the boom. It sounds like a small thing, but over a longer session, it could help reduce arm fatigue.

Practical Details: From Inflation to Vision

GA didn’t skip on usability either:

  • Separate air chambers (strut and LE) via two independent valves allow custom pressure tuning. That’s handy if you want to fine-tune stiffness depending on wind strength or riding style.
  • 360-view windows help a lot when you’re navigating in a busy lineup or approaching a downwind turn. The window material is designed to resist creasing, which keeps visibility clear over time.

Another minor but smart feature is the premium leading edge reinforcement. It’s a self-adhesive Dacron patch running along the seam, distributing load more evenly and beefing up that high-stress area.

It may not be the easiest wing for beginners, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s meant to grow with you and support a technical riding style. The availability is limited at the moment, so if this sounds like your kind of ride, check details and sizing of new GA PURE at our store.
