32 windsurfers gathered for knowledge from Champion
We kicked off this year’s May long weekend in the best possible way! On May 1–2, we gathered in Rewa for a windsurfing clinic with PWA World Champion Maciek Rutkowski. A huge thanks to Rewa Surf Centrum (and Piotr Olewiński and the whole crew) for hosting us! We had 32 participants — both foil and fin riders ready to learn and have fun.
Day 1: Theory, tuning… and tricky weather
Friday greeted us with stormy forecasts and some rain. Luckily, we were prepared with a solid plan — we kicked things off with an in-depth theory session. Maciek explained in detail how to properly select and set up the gear: from mast base positioning and foot strap placement to choosing the right fin or foil. We also went through the entire rigging and sail trimming process — selecting the right mast, setting the correct downhaul and outhaul tension, adjusting batten tension, and understanding the impact of boom height. Those who attended know there was enough knowledge shared to fill several books!
In the afternoon, we tried to get on the water and shoot some video content. Unfortunately, the wind didn’t really cooperate, but we managed to adjust a few setups and prepare for the next day.
Day 2: A dream session
Saturday was a dream come true — sunny skies and a steady 15–18 knots from the west/northwest. We split the participants into two groups: foil/freeride (morning session) and slalom fin (afternoon session). Before each session, Maciek and I helped everyone fine-tune their gear to make the most out of their time on the water.
During the sessions, Maciek shared spot-on advice about technique and gear settings. All of the participants said his tips were real gamechangers, with some even saying they “rediscovered windsurfing.”
