Jericoacoara, Brazil – December 2024
Some places leave a mark. And then, there’s Jericoacoara (Jeri) – a spot so unique that it feels like a different world.
Last December, we had the opportunity to visit Jeri for the Pryde Group Distributors Meeting of NeilPryde and JP-Australia. This gathering wasn’t just about business; it was a chance to test the latest 2025 gear, connect with key industry figures, and experience one of the best windsurfing and wing foiling locations on the planet.
Our team from EASY-surfshop – Donia, Adam, Jarek, and I – headed to Brazil, eager for warm winds, new boards, sails and wings, and… an escape from Poland’s winter chill.
The Journey to Jeri – An Adventure in Itself
Getting to Jericoacoara isn’t simple. There are no direct roads, just shifting dunes and sandy trails shaped by wind and tide. It’s remote, it’s wild, and it’s worth every mile.
Our journey started with a drive from Poznań to Berlin, a flight to Paris, and then a long-haul stretch to Fortaleza, Brazil. Stepping off the plane, we were greeted by humid air and a steady breeze, both good signs.
Next came a five-hour transfer in a pickup truck. The first part was a standard road trip: palm trees swaying, roadside stands selling fresh coconuts. Then, the roads disappeared. The final stretch was all sand, rolling dunes, open beach, and a bumpy off-road ride. As the sun set, painting the sky in deep orange and pink, we knew we were getting close.
And then, we arrived in Jeri.
First Impressions – Laid-Back Vibes & Local Life
Jericoacoara is unlike any other place. No asphalt, no concrete, just sand everywhere. Even in the “streets,” people walk barefoot, and shoes seem almost unnecessary. Life slows down here. The breeze, the ocean, and the wind forecast set the rhythm of the day.
And then, there are the famous Jeri donkeys. They roam freely through the village, completely unbothered, as if they own the place. Whether lounging near beach bars or strolling past souvenir shops, they’re as much a part of Jeri as the waves and wind.
After the long journey, our hotel was pure paradise. Waking up to sea views, tropical flowers, and fresh papaya and mango for breakfast made the travel effort well worth it.
The Pryde Group Distributors Meeting at Club Ventos
The event took place at Club Ventos, Jeri’s windsurfing and wing foiling hub. Owned by Fabio, a local legend, this beachfront spot is the heart of the scene.
The launch is perfect. Straight into the best wind on the spot. Offshore at the entrance, it stabilizes further out, offering ideal conditions whether you’re carving waves, working on freestyle moves, or cruising. Between sessions, the atmosphere is relaxed: fresh coconuts under the palms, casual gear talks, and ocean views stretching endlessly. And at the end of the day, nothing beats watching the famous Jeri sunset from the club’s deck, drink in hand.
Workshops & Testing – Getting Hands-On with 2025 Gear
This trip wasn’t just about riding, it was about learning. Seeing the latest gear in action and understanding the innovations behind it.
We had in-depth sessions with some of the biggest minds in the industry. Robert Stroj, NeilPryde’s sail designer, walked us through the refinements in materials and shaping. Werner Gnigler and Marko Postonjski, the brains behind JP-Australia boards, explained how new technologies balance speed, control, and playfulness. Nils Rosenblad, an aerodynamics expert, broke down wing efficiency, lift, and glide in a way that made everything click.
And then, we hit the water. Testing the 2025 prototypes firsthand, we could feel the difference, the refinements in performance, control, and materials were noticeable from the first ride. There’s a lot to be excited about for next season. We’ll be breaking down our key findings in the upcoming blog posts.
Riding with the Pros – Learning from the Best
One of the trip’s biggest highlights? Sharing the water with world-class riders.
NeilPryde and JP-Australia’s top team: Marino Gil, Riccardo Zorzi, Sarah-Quita Offringa, Vinnicius Martins, and Yentel Caers, were there, throwing down freestyle tricks, slicing through the water at insane speeds, and fine-tuning their setups.
Riding alongside them wasn’t just inspiring, it was a masterclass in technique. Every move was effortless, every tip they shared was valuable. Seeing them push the limits made us rethink our own approach to riding. And off the water, they were just as approachable, chatting, sharing stories, and swapping session insights.
Sunset Drinks & Gear Presentations
After a full day on the water, there was no better way to wrap up than with sunset drinks at Club Ventos. Feet in the sand, cold drinks in hand, and the sky turning into a blend of fiery orange and deep purple – pure magic.
But the day wasn’t over yet. At 6:30 PM, we moved into the air-conditioned VIP room for the official Brands & Products Presentations. The energy was high, curious minds, deep discussions, and a firsthand look at what’s coming next from Pryde Group. The passion for innovation was undeniable.
Jeri After Dark – Beach Bars & Party Nights
When the sun sets, Jeri shifts gears. The town comes alive with music, laughter, and late-night energy.
Our first stop? Origami Club – a beachside spot where sand is the dance floor and live music fills the air. Barefoot dancers, good vibes, and plenty of caipirinhas. From there, we moved to Serramar Night, deeper in the village, where tribal beats and fire pits created an electric atmosphere.
For a more laid-back end to the night, Café Jeri was the place to be. A rooftop bar with smooth beats, dim lights, and a great crowd – perfect for winding down while overlooking the glowing village below.
Looking Back – What’s Next?
Jeri wasn’t just another trip, it was an experience that stays with you. From testing the latest gear to soaking in the raw beauty of the place, it reminded us why we love this sport.
One thing’s for sure, this won’t be our last time in Brazil.
